When applied to the surface, it saturates the synthetic fibres and allows the active ingredients to degrade any organic matter. Left on for only 3 minutes and then rinsed heavily to get the solution deep into the subbase to further allow natural enzymes to go to work on the dreadful urea that creates that awful smell. For new installations with pets, we strongly recommend having an infill in the turf that is designed specifically for pets. A new product that is greatly overtaking zeolite is called Envirofill®. Envirofill® is not only perfectly round – increasing drainage and reducing compaction – but with its Microban® technology it helps inhibit the growth of bacteria, mold and mildew that can also cause odors. This premium infill can also be applied to already installed turf, or brand new installs! It makes artificial turf look and feel great, increase drainage yet its tough enough for any application and it’s completely safe.
